The Peel-Halton Local Employment Planning Council has released its 2017 community labour market report, which provides a comprehensive review on the local workforce and employers in the two regions.

“Our data is local, timely and relevant,” explains Shalini Da Cunha, executive director of LEPC.

The report identifies the key industry sectors in Peel and Halton as manufacturing, logistics (transportation, warehousing and wholesale), professional, scientific (robotics and artificial intelligence) and technical services.

Even with a decline in employment and production, manufacturing is one of the most important industries in this area and accounts for 14 per cent of employment. However, Da Cunha says the manufacturing sector is challenged to find “blue-collar” workers.
